Peru: Playa La Gramita – Sunset & Hotel Las Aldas
A stunning sunset at the Playa La Gramita beach – quite cold and windy though – the cold Humboldt current sweeping past the coast of Peru keeps the climate chilly and dry. Hotel Las Aldas is a stunning oceanfront hotel on a desolate but absolutely spectacular beach! We were the only people staying with the entire beach as far as the eye can see – all ours! The hotel is both rustic and authentic with constant sea breeze and panoramic views. The hotel is located about a kilometer away from the Las Ladas archaeological site, which is mostly excavated. But the hotel has collected tons of artifacts over the years, all displayed in his office – the collection is just insane and blow away any official museum at a large UESCO sites – pottery, statues, polished stones – all with amazing detail and preservation – absolutely priceless. There is even a mummy that’s over two thousand years old that washed down the shore from the mountains and was carbon dated for age by the visiting scientists.
