Philippines/Cebu: Cebu – Fort San Pedro

One more attraction in Cebu City – Fort San Pedro and Plaza Independencia. Fort San Pedro dates back to the Spanish colonial period and was built in 1565 under the command of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, first Spanish governor of the Philippines. It is considered one of the oldest triangular bastions in the Philippines. The fort served various purposes over the centuries, including repelling Muslim raiders and protecting against pirate attacks. Fort San Pedro reflects Spanish colonial architecture, with walls made of coral stones. The fort is located on the Plaza Independencia, there is a museum inside, and you can walk on the walls.
