Philippines: Manila – San Augustin Church
San Agustin Church dates back to 1586 and is one of the four churches in Philippines that got listed as UNESCO World Heritage. The church is a massive baroque structure in the heart of the walled Intramuros old city part of Manila. Rather simple outside, it’s lavishly decorated inside. Attached to the church is a humongous square monastery. Both the church and the monastery were built at the height of the Spain’s golden age of the world empire and as such – the structure, the materials, the decor – all scream quality and wealth. Inside the former monastery is a vast museum.
