Philippines/Mindanao: Philippine Eagle Center
Philippine Eagle Center lies about an hour drive north from Davao City and is dedicated to protecting the critically endangered Philippine eagle. This eagle species is the largest eagle in the world and is found only mostly around the island of Mindanao, deep in the jungle. The center is home to 36 eagles, 4 of which were bread here in captivity – massive birds! Besides the eagles there are 10 other birds species (mostly birds of pray), monkeys, Philippine deer, and crocs. Sadly, because of the avian flu outbreak, you can approach the eagle closely and bird shows are all cancelled.
