Poland: Gdansk – Streets of the Old Town
Gdansk is an amazingly beautiful city on the Polish coast of the Baltic Sea. Also known as Danzig in German, the city had a long history under Polish and German rule, as well as several stints as an independent city-state. While damaged during the WWII, the city has been meticulously restored and has hundreds of medieval streets flanked by super ornate buildings with super ornate statue-topped roofs. But there’s more – city gates, a dozen cathedral and churches, gilded decorated houses, and many markets. It’s busy and very touristy but for a reason.
