Poland: Krakow – Old Town
Krakow’s old town is a magnificent open space central market square with medieval buildings and cathedrals. It’s so striking that in fact it was on of the original first sites to be designated UNESCO World Heritage. Known as Stare Myesto in Polish, the Old Town is dominated by the massive Main Square – the largest central square of any medieval town in Europe. In one corner stands the huge St Mary’s Basilica, and several other churches are scattered nearby. Only pedestrian traffic allowed, as well as lavishly decorated horse-drawn carriages. But wait, come here at night and everything is brightly lit and the square is alive deep I to the night.
