Portugal: Porto – Tasting Port at Offley
Offley is another world-famous brand of port wines (many port wine houses were purchased and run by British merchants hence mostly English names for the labels). An extensive tour takes you all around the massive underground cellars where port wine is slowly maturing in big and small barrels. Interestingly, with the cellars being so close to the river, they used to periodically get flooded over the centuries with barrels completely covered by water for days (no a problem anymore since the river is dammed). Offley is famous for its award-winning Tawny, which you get to try at the end together with a couple other types of port.
