Primorski Krai: Vladivostok – Tokarevsky Lighthouse
Another absolutely stunning spot in Vladivostok is the Tokarevskiy Lighthouse. There is a narrow spit of land where mainland ends in the farthest southwestern end of the peninsula in which the city lies. At the end off the spit, just about 100 meters in the water stand a beautiful lighthouse built in 1876. It is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse in Russia and a symbol of Vladivostok, appearing in many postcards. At low tide, one can cross onto the lighthouse island, but unfortunately it was neither low tide nor calm when I was there, so viewing off mainland sufficed.
