Romania: Transyvania’s Fortified Churches

There are over 150 fortified churches in Transylvania, build between 13-15th centuries. It would d probably take a year to see them all, and they all are different. Eight were inscribed into UNESCO World Heritage. The road from Brasov to Sigisoara and on to Sebes us know as “fortified churches road”, with several dozen explorable along the drive. There’s eight churches included here, such as famous Viscri Fortified Church from 14th century, Saschiz Fortified Church from 1496, Calnic Citadel from 1241, Bunesti Fortified Church from 1280s, Crit Fortified Church from 1270s, Cloasterf Fortified Church from 1520s, and finally the massive castle-like Biertan Fortified Church from 1570s. The firs three and the last one are UNESCO World Heritage sites.
