Samoa: Apia’s Fish Market
Once a week in the Samoan capital of Apia, there is a biggest fish market, gathering at the ungodly 4am in the morning. It’s a sight to experience and see – freshest fish of all species and sizes is brought here. There is yellow fin tuna, bonito, colorful parrotfish, napoleon, triggerfish, scary-looking murray eels, octopus, crabs, pacific lobsters and much more. There is even sea urchin nicely packed in the bottles. It was a brutal experience to wake up and drive here so early but it was well worth seeing perhaps the best fish market I’ve ever seen (so far).
