San Marino: City of San Marino
Being the only city of San Marino and the capital of the tiny country. It sits on the slops of Mount Ttano (you take a cable car from the foothills to get here, a spectacular ride). The medieval city is full of narrow cobblestone streets that are nearly vertical in nature, twisting and turning, and all rising to the three summits of Mount Titano that have spectacular fortresses on them (next post). Palazzo Pubblico and Piazza della Liberta is the core of the city, another attraction is the now-classical Basilica di San Marino. The rest of the town is packed with various museums, mediocre restaurants and duty-free and souvenirs shops that are usually packed with people, but are much emptier now.
