San Marino: First Visit to the Oldest Republic
San Marino is a land-locked country surround by Italy and is the oldest sovereign country and constitutional republic in the world. It was founded in 301 AD, and is governed by six books written in Latin in 16th century that define the country’s political system and laws. It’s a tiny country and most of is located on a mountain top of Monte Titano where there is a spectacular medieval castle with panoramic views. The three towers of San Marino are Guaita, the oldest of the three (it was constructed in the 11th century); the 13th century Cesta, located on the highest of Monte Titano’s summits; and the 14th century Montale, on the smallest of Monte Titano’s summits.
