Sao Tome: Sao Tome – Cathedral of São Tomé
Cathedral of São Tomé (Sé Catedral de Nossa Senhora da Graça), towering in the central square of the country’s capital is the second oldest building on the island (the fort was built first), constructed in 1493. The cathedral building has two identical towers and faces a beautiful square right next to the ocean. Inside, Portuguese-style blue tile work covers the walls with religious motives. The buildings absolutely jam-packed on Sunday when seemingly the entire island (deeply catholic) congregates here.
