Saudi Arabia: Al Ula – Jabal Ithlib
One location stands out among all the incredible tombs at Hegra and that is Jabal Ithlib. Located to the northeast of all the other tombs, this was a religious site dedicated to the Nabataean god of Dushara. Here a 40m tall narrow passage between two colossal rocks forms a natural passage and was of extreme signification to ancient Nabataeans. The niches in the nearby rocks were used for prayer halls and there are multiple carvings on the rock walls and entrances. Not much light gets inside through the narrow slot-like passages, making the place even more mysterious.
