Saudi Arabia: Masmak Fort in Riyadh
Masmak Fortress is a historic fort right in the heart of Riyadh, this is where the modern Saudi Arabia began when the rebel led by Ibn Saud captured it in 1902. The fort is made of clay and mud-brick and has four defensive towers in the corners of a square design. Inside is a museum describing the history of the founding of Saudi Arabia and the leaders. There are loads and loads of historical photographs and narrations along the clay walls of the museum. Zero tourists.
