Saudi Arabia: Najran
Najran is a city with 4 thousands of years of history near the present day Yemeni border. It was part of an ancient Yemeni kingdom, and was once conquered by the Romans. Najran was an important stop on the incense trading route, the most famous cloth making center in the Arabian peninsula, and once had a large Yemeni Jewish population. The city has a lot of building of the traditional Yemeni mudbrick architecture, many still inhabited and some are being restored- you can just roam around the city and stumble on these amazing clay towers. Don’t miss the Aan Palace in the western side of Najran overlooking the river.
