Serbia: Belgrade – Around the City
Belgrade is not the prettiest city in the world but it has quite a roster of attractions… So here’s how to experience the city in 1/2 day. Walk all around Kalemegdan fortress overlooking the confluence of Danube and Sava river (massive fortress, takes more than an hour to walk around). Walk Knez Mihailova Street and enjoy cafe culture (a beautiful pedestrian boulevard, kind of like Arbat in Moscow). See the National Assembly building, see the St. Marks Cathedral. Walk to Saint Sava Cathedral (largest Orthodox Christian church in the world, just stupendously massive). Retrace to your hotel, take a nap, drink a red bull…. Go to Splavovi (a dozen nightclubs set on barges literally over water), Belgrade’s most famous clubbing night spot. Pictures are in the order of my exploration…
