Seychelles: Admiralte Islands – Bujouter Atoll

The Amirante Islands are a group of coral islands and atolls in the Indian Ocean, located about 250 km southwest of the main island of Seychelles, Mahe They are part of the Outer Islands of Seychelles and span roughly 400 kilometers from north to south. The islands are very remote and little populated. The Amirantes are mostly low-lying coral atolls, with diverse ecosystems that include coral reefs, seagrass beds, and sand cays. They are rich in marine biodiversity, supporting a variety of fish, corals, and seabirds. We cruised by Alfonso Atoll and St Francois Atoll on way to tiny but super idiotic Bujouter Atoll. Bijoutier Atoll is tiny, takes about 20 minutes to walk all around it. It’s stunningly beautiful and almost picture perfect, as if taken from a calendar cover. It has insane white sand, beautiful blue water around it, swaying palms. It’s also a birders paradise as one can spot greater crested tern, wedge-tailed shearwaters, white terns, and several other species. There are also hermit crabs to have fun with and the island is a hauling ground for sea turtles.
