Sicily/Lampedusa: Sicily & Lampedusa Food Recap

Lampedusa is all about seafood and its cuisine revolves around the daily catch, including fish like grouper, red mullet, swordfish, and shellfish. Some truly Lampedusan dishes are Couscous di Pesce (clearly a North African influence from Libya and Tunisia), Pasta con Bottarga, Pasta con le Triglie, and so on. Lampedusa even makes its own Lampedusa gin. When it comes to Palermo – it is an absolute foodie paradise. Palermo is renowned for its street food culture, offering iconic dishes like: arancine (deep-fried rice balls filled with meat rage), pane con la milza (sandwich stuffed with spleen of veal), pane e panelle (chickpea fritter sandwich), stigghiola (grilled lamb or goat intestines. And of course there are awesome Sicilian pastas like pasta con le sarde and pasta alla norma. And cannoli were invented here!
