Slovakia: Zilina
And here’s another beautiful medieval Slovak city (actually fourth largest in the country) – Zilina. Settled from Stone Age times, it flourished from around 1200s on, and on several occasions through history was actually the capital of autonomous Slovak state. Attraction here include the twin-towered Holy Trinity Cathedral, and the Marianske Square right behind it with rows of historic burgher heritage houses – 44 all together. There is also the Church of St Paul the Apostle the other side of the square. A very pleasant town with a well-preserved historic core.
