Slovenia: Kamnik
Another beautiful Slovenian town is Kamnik, just at the edge of the mountain range known as Kamnik Alps. Over 900 years old, it has several castles and a perfectly preserved old town. The two remaining castles are Mali Grad and Stari Grad, one above the other. Mali Grad requires some steep staircase to climb up to a beautiful chapel but then you are rewarded with insane views of the town with all the red roofs and distant mountains. Not to be missed are two spectacular churches in town and a Franciscan monastery.
