Solomon Islands: Tetepare – Green Sea Turtles
Three species of sea turtles nest on the pristine beaches of the Tetepare Island – green, hawksbill, and leatherback. While the latter two are mostly using very remote and inaccessible beaches on the back side of the island, the green turtles are more common. Green turtles (Chelonia mydas) are the smallest of the three and are commonly found in the lagoons around Tetepare feeding on the sea grass beds.
