South Africa/KZN: Drakensberg NP – Cathedral Peak Trail
Drakensberg Mountains are all about absolute surreal green vista and jagged spiky mountain peaks (it’s almost a bit reminiscent of Chile/Argentina). While we didn’t scale the Cathedral Peak (it’s a full day adventure), we did have a quite lengthy hike to the foothills, enjoying stunning panoramas in all directions along the way. Cathedral Peak itself rises to 3004 m (9,856 ft), and is part of the Cathedral Range, full is similar sharp peaks – Triplets, the Bell, the Outer and Inner Horns, the Chessmen and Mitre Peak. In the summertime, everything is super green and the alpine habitat is full of blooming wildflowers.
