South Africa: Namaqualand National Park

Namaqualand is a dry semi-desert region in the west of South Africa. Most of the year this is a land of scrub, sands, and dry soil. But for a very short period in the beginning of spring (July-August), this land explodes into the rainbow of colors when all types of South African wildflowers explode in bloom. It is known locally as Namaqualand Daisy season for the most prominent orange daisy. Although sometime its hard to time the even, and sometimes it doesn’t happen every year (depends on winter rains), it is truly an unrivaled spectacle (except perhaps for the Death Valley in the USA). Book your flight now and you can make it for this year’s bloom!
