South Africa/NC: Khalagadi NP – Game Self-Drives

halagadi Transfrontier Park has been on my wishlist for probably well over ten years – a vast expanse of enigmatic red sand dunes of the Kalahari desert in the border area of South Africa, Botswana, Namibia. Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park spans 38,000 km sq , making it one of the largest conservation areas in the world. There are two roads that run through the park and self-driving either (or both of them as we did) will yield loads and loads of wildlife encounters, as well as scenic panorama. The main road runs from Twee Rivien to Mata Mata over 120 km with waterholes placed all around it, where the animals congregate – herds of blue wildebeest, springboks, giraffes, oryxes (separate post coming about them), and also ostriches, hyenas, tsetsebe, jackals, and much more. Spectacular desert scenery as well!
