South Africa/NC: Khalagadi NP – Walking the Red Dunes at Xaus Lodge

One of the must-do activities at Xaus Lodge is the walking safari where you walk around in the morning light across the red dunes of the Kalahari desert. You’re not likely to see tons of wildlife or being attacked by lions or leopards, but you do see many tracks in the sand, scorpion borrows (Kalahari has some of the highest concentration of scorpions on Earth, and two species are actually deadly), lots of desert plants, lots of birds, and just spectacular red sand dunes landscapes as far as the eyes can deed.
