South Georgia: Gold Harbor

The next landing was Gold Harbor, a spectacular crescent shaped beach with massive glaciers above, all covered in snow. On top, the heavy ocean swell made the whole beach choked up with blocks of ice and the landing was an adventure – navigating waves and trying to avoid iceberg chunks. The beach is home to another huge king penguin colony.
