South Korea: DMZ – Unification Park

A line along the 38th parallel more or less in a straight line divided the Korean Peninsula into the 11th most prosperous country on one side and a total shit-show on the other. On the southern side, the DMZ (demilitarized zone) area north of Seoul has several points of interest, one of which is the Unification Park. Here you ca see the train station and rail tracks that lead nowhere in the north, fields surrounded by barbed wire, various monuments and sculptures and several old trains. The Unification park also includes a section of the Freedom Bridge, which crosses the Imjin river – it’s a former railroad bridge once used by repatriated POWs returning from the North.
