South Korea: Seoul – Changgyeong Palace (Revisited)
Changgyeong Palace is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed 15th century royal palace in Seoul. It was built in 1484, burned down and was destroyed by mostly Japanese invasions over and over, and diligently rebuilt every single time to its original glory. The architecture of Changgyeong Palace is a blend of traditional Korean design principles, featuring intricate wooden details and sweeping roofs. The palace complex includes various halls, pavilions, and gates, each with unique historical significance, and each on its own level, one higher than the other and more ornate and elaborate.
