South Georgia: Shackleton Hike

One of the most unique experiences was the 6km Shackleton hike recreating the last leg of the famous Antarctic explorers’ experience. Google the story (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Shackleton), but it’s truly incredible as Shackleton and two of his mates hiked through the glaciers of South Georgia to finally reach civilization at Stromness whaling station after over 2 years of being left for dead. The hike was spectacular over snow and glacier covered mountain ranges with 360 views.
