Spain/Andalusia: Malaga
Malaga is over 2800 years old, making it one of the oldest cities on the planet. Phoenicians founded it in 770 BC, then came Romans, then came Islamic rulers under the Caliphate of Cordova, then was the Crown of Castille after the Reconquista. And everybody left something behind in the city – the walls of the Phoenician city, a Roman amphitheater, a Moorish Alcazaba (previous post), a stunning Christian Cathedral, and a bunch of churches scattered around the old town. Pablo Picasso was born and worked in Malaga. There is also an ultra-modern harbor and waterfront full of bars and clubs.
