Spain/Castille & Leon: Salamanca – Catedral Nueva & Catedral Vieja

Salamanca has not one, but two massive cathedrals next to each other – Catedral Nueva (New) & Catedral Vieja (Old). The old cathedral was built around 1100 AD, one of the most architecturally amazing and richly decorated cathedrals at the time in entire Spain – there are a lot of frescoes and priceless art and architecture inside. The new cathedral was founded literally right next door in 1513 and took nearly two hundred years to complete and replete with wealth of baroque and gothic elements. You can go to the rooftop on perhaps then most amazing opportunity to explore the upper floors of the cathedral and also climb up all the way to the top of the 110m-high belltower!
