St Lucia: Diamond Falls & Botanical Gardens
Just a short distance from Soufriere lies the former Diamond Estate which nowadays has a spectacular botanical garden, hot springs, and the stunning Diamond Falls. The gardens date back to the late 18th century when they were established by Devaux Family, who were French colonists. Originally a plantation, the estate was later converted into botanical gardens. The gardens boast a diverse collection of tropical plants and flowers, including exotic orchids, palms, heliconias, and bromeliads. The gardens are also home to mineral baths fed by the nearby Sulphur Springs volcano. The small Diamond Falls are at the far end of the gardens, water coming from hot springs and cascading over a travertine ledge.
