St Pierre & Miquelon: Lighthouse & Fishing Harbor
The harbor is perhaps the most beautiful part of St Pierre & Miquelon – shrouded in ever-present fog with an old lighthouse on a pier and old fishing boats along the shore. There are also old guns from the 18yh century and torpedoes from WWII displayed along the water. Fishing is by far the major contributor to the local economy and with cod stocks severely depleted the islands now rely on French cash infusion to stave off unemployment.
