Sudan: Khartoum – National Museum & Ethnographic Museum
There are two great museum in Khartoum – the National Museum and the Ethnographic Museum. The National Museum has an impressive collection covering millenia of Sudan’s history including the Kingdom of Kush, Nubia kingdom, and the Egyptian period. There are two Egyptian temples here, moved from the flooding of Lake Nasser in the north of the country. The later history of Sudan is covered in detail as well, including the Christian and Islamic periods. The Ethnographic museum is impressive as well – the many cultures and tribes living in Sudan are represented with many exhibits and artifacts. And the kicker – I was the only tourist in both museums!
