Sudan: Meroe Pyramids – Northern Cemetery at Sunset
The most spectacular site at Meroe is the northern group of pyramids aka Northern Cemetery. You almost need to come here twice – sunset and sunrise. At sunset the pyramids glow red, the long shadows casting mysterious long tracks. Also in the vending many of the pyramid burial chambers are open to walk in and see the spectacular relief carvings on the walls. A truly incredible experience at sunset!
