Suriname: Commewijne & Suriname River Cruising

Commewijne & Suriname River combine into one just a few kilometer south of Paramaribo, forming a combined waterway that empties into the Atlantic Ocean approximately 30 km downstream. The water color is visibly different at the confluence, and the contrast is often striking during the dry season (August–November) when river flows are lower and sediment differences are more pronounced. Suriname River is brown and rich in tannins coming from upcountry highlands, while Commewijne is grey and full of muddy coastal silt. And the sunsets are quite awesome here!
