Svalbard: Arctic Tern
Along the shoreline in Longyearbied, you are likely to run into arctic terns and their nests. The birds will attack you viciously from the air dropping like bombs and even trying to hit your head. Arctic terns are known for their migration pole to pole, in fact the longest migration of any animals, exceeding 70 thousand km. They breed around the northern pole regions and then migrate to Antarctica for their wintering grounds.
