Svalbard: Into The Open Ice
At 81 degrees north, you leave the mainland of Svalbard and enter into the open waters of the Arctic Ocean. You are just 540 miles from the North Pole here, and close to the permanent ice. As the ship’s hull is reinforced for icebreaking, we venturing deeper into the open ice for spectacular landscapes and wildlife encounters (in search of polar bears).
