There’s more to Poolepynten then just a walrus haul-hour. The entire Poolepynten is part of the Forlandet National Park, which encompasses most of the island. Beautiful landscapes of mountains and glaciers, lakes and sandy beaches. Since the island is likely free of foxes, there were a lot of nesting birds – especially the beautiful Arctic terns then nest of the ground. We also saw hundreds of kittiwakes and half a dozen swimming red-throated divers on the lake. Tiny Arctic flowers clinging to the permafrost ground. And last but not least – several reindeer.
