Taiwan: Taipei – Dihua Street
Dihua Street is Taipei’s oldest street, with origins tracing back to the 1850s during its heyday as a bustling trading port along the Tamsui River. Goods like tea, herbs, fabrics, and dried foods once flowed through here, making it a key commercial hub. Today the street is a collection of heritage buildings, unique traditional food places, and small shops selling herbs, dried seafood and fruits, spices, incense, and textiles. The street features grand old shophouses with Baroque, Minnan (southern Fujian), and Japanese colonial influences — ornate facades, arched windows, and intricate details.
