Taiwan: Taipei – Lungshan Temple
Lungshan Temple is one of the most famous and visually impressive in Taiwan. It was originally built in 1738, and destroyed and rebuilt multiple times over the centuries. The temple was originally dedicated to Guanyin (the Goddess of Merc), but it has evolved into a space blending Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Chinese folk beliefs. Over 100 deities are enshrined here, earning it nicknames like the “meeting place of the gods.” The temple is super impressive and lavish inside, and is especially atmospheric during evening visits when lanterns light up and rituals peak.
