Taiwan: Taroko Gorge National Park

Taroko Gorge NP is quiet possibly the top attraction in Taiwan. The gorge is also know as Marble Gorge given it is entirely made of marble. It started as limestone at the bottom of the China sea which can got compressed when tectonic plates got squeezed and metamorphosed into marble and then got uplifted (the entire Taiwan still getting lifted 0.5 cm per year). The spectacular mountain road weaves through the gorge, over incredible bridges, through narrow tunnels, and insane turns. All along the marble walls tower above and the river continues carving it’s way below.
