Tanzania: Ngorongoro Crater – Rim Views
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a massive inactive crater, the world’s largest, of an ancient volcano that blew its top off millions of years ago. The caldera is fully intact with the circular wall surrounding it, rising thousands of feet above the crater floor. Many overlooks from the rim offer a panorama of Ngorongoro. After the recent short rains season, the greater and the walls look ultra green and verdant, and down on the bottom you can even spot buffalos and rhinos. Plenty of wildlife on crater rim as well – baboons traveling in large families, buffalos hiding in the bush, and even a Jaguar streaked across the road.
