Thailand: Khlong Hae Floating Market
Thailand is well known for its floating markets, and the one near Hat Yai in the south is a bit different. It is the first and only floating marker in the southern Thailand. Here, sellers come on boats and buyers shop from the pier. The food offerings are quite different from generic street Thai fair – it is much more Malay and in character, and most of the seller ladies are Malay and Muslim. Lots of deep fried food here and spicy soups, plenty of souvenirs and textiles.
