Thailand: Railay Peninsula – Phra Nang Beach & Cave

Phra Nang Beach is located on the very northern tip of the otherwise spectacular Railay Peninusa, it’s about a half-hour hike to get here. While secluded it is not, it’s still very picturesque with a cave and a shrine inside of it on the left side of the beach. The cave is named after the Phra Nang Princess who supposedly died at sea and is now a shrine fool of wooden penises of all shapes and sizes. Supposedly, penises comes from fishermen who want to be blessed at sea (please somebody explain to me how penises and fishing are connected and how it relates to the drowned princess). The cave is not deep but has some hanging stalactites.
