Tonga/Vava‘u: Snorkeling Vavau
With so many islands and such a different underwater terrain – deep channels, shallow flats, different currents a snorkeling in Vavau is truly spectacular. The coral reef is variable from single standalone boomies to coral walls to large and diverse coral beds. And there is so much fish of various tropical species – you feel like you are in an aquarium: moorish idols, budderfly fish, clownfish, angelfish, starry toadfish, triggerfish, and so much more. And the sea floor is full of sea urchin (also multiple species). seastars, sea cucumbers, and mollusks in shells.
