Torres Strait Island: Archipelago from the Air
While I didn’t get to fly over the entire 286 islands of the Torres Strait’s multiple island groups, I got a good circle over the southern and the inhabited part of it (only half a dozen of these islands are actually visitable). The airport is on the Horn Island (which is otherwise pretty empty), and the main settlement is on the nearby Thursday Island. A bit further around is Friday Island. And still further – can you guess? – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday islands. Not kidding!
