Tuamotu/Rangiroa: Blue Lagoon (Revisited)
This place is absolutely surreal! I think the Blue Lagoon on the western side of the Rangiroa atoll is perhaps the most beautiful beach in the world. It’s like a postcard that comes to life. Blue Lagoon is actually a lagoon within a lagoon – the island here widens up and forms a circle of smaller islands and sand bars and narrow passages that together create an unbelievably stunning masterpiece of blue and azure and aquamarine and every possible hue in between. The Blue Lagoon is entirely uninhabited and only day tours arrive here from Avatoru (a one hour bumpy boat ride across the Rangiroa Lagoon). The whitest sand and the bluest water and picturesque swaying palms make it a total paradise. But first – let me take a selfie!
