Tuamotu Islands: Tuamotu Food Recap
Tuamotu Archipelago is fabulous in its simplicity and authenticity. There are no gourmet restaurants or even any restaurants at all. All you got are simple “snack” places that are family-run and operate 2-3 day per week alternating. The menu is almost the same at all of them – tuna sashimi, tuna tartar, and poussin cru (tuna with lime and coconut milk), or a combination of the above. During all-day trips in the lagoon, you are treated to freshly barbecued lobster, parrotfish, mahi mahi, or snapper. And I also tried two super exotic things – the meat of the Pearl oyster and magnum clams (both raw and delicious).
